April is one of the best months for a beachy getaway because the weather starts warming up, crowds are lighter than in summer, and prices are still manageable.
I also love planning beach trips this time of year because you get that early taste of summer energy while still feeling like you discovered something before everyone else did (you didn’t, but it’s nice to pretend).
These are the 10 best beaches to visit in April in the U.S.:
Escambrón Beach, Puerto Rico
Weather: Escambrón Beach is always packing warm tropical conditions with highs in the mid-80s°F + plenty of sun.
Water: Expect gentle ocean breezes and calm water perfect for swimming and snorkeling.
Escambrón Beach is easily one of the best beaches to visit in April in the U.S. because it’s GORGEOUS and right next to Old San Juan.
I love that you can spend the morning snorkeling in the calm, protected waters, relaxing under palm trees, or exploring the nearby walking trails along the coast.
It is also perfect for mixing beach time with culture since you can wander over to historic forts, grab local food from nearby spots, or simply enjoy the laid-back atmosphere without needing to venture far from the city.
For me, Escambrón is ideal when I want that tropical escape feeling combined with history, scenery, and Puerto Rico.

Walk the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk, grab ice cream (or seafood) along the oceanfront, and ride the SkyWheel for panoramic views of the shoreline.

South Beach, Florida
Weather: April is warm and sunny with highs in the 70s and 80s°F, balanced by light ocean breezes that keep it feeling comfortable.
Water: Sea temperatures are pleasantly warm and ideal for swimming, paddleboarding, and long afternoons in the water.
I’m super biased, BUT Miami Beach is one of the best beaches to visit in the U.S. ANYTIME of the year.
South Beach blends iconic ocean views with cute architecture, nonstop energy, and, honestly, it feels like a home away from home for me since I’ve been so many times.
I love walking Ocean Drive, and spending slow mornings by the turquoise water before exploring Art Deco buildings and colorful, flavorful neighborhoods nearby.

Key West, Florida
Weather: As always, Key West is warm and tropical, with temps in the 80s°F and plenty of Florida sun.

Key West is easily one of the best beaches to visit in April in the U.S. because it delivers that laid-back island feeling with a personality you just can’t find anywhere else.
Start the day wandering past pastel cottages and art galleries before hitting the water, whether that means relaxing at Fort Zachary Taylor, snorkeling near the rocks, or just watching boats in the harbor.
Duval Street always pulls me back in with live music, local shops, and endless places to stop for something cold and refreshing.
And yes, key lime pie absolutely matters here because it’s deeply tied to the island’s identity, with every bakery claiming its own authentic version made from the local citrus that defines Key West.
Tip: Don’t skip the iconic pic at the The Southernmost Point Buoy (the Southernmost point of the continental U.S.).
Pensacola Beach, Florida
