I had high expectations when I booked a room at the Charter Seattle Hotel, knowing it’s part of the Hilton’s premium Curio Collection.

Nestled in a prime location, literally next door to the Pike Place Market, with views of the city and waterfront, this hotel promised me a lot.

And it definitely delivered: Staying at the Charter Seattle Hotel was an indulgence. Whether I was out exploring the vibrant streets of downtown Seattle or enjoying the tranquility of my room, the hotel was a perfect complement to my trip.

First Impressions

The exterior of the Charter Hotel in Seattle at night.

From the moment I stepped into the grandiose lobby, I was warmly welcomed, my car parked, and my bags carried. Check-in took seconds.

Lobby Ambiance (Or, as I call it, Lobbiance)

The lobby’s flow was nice, with its high ceilings and natural light filtering through floor-to-ceiling windows. Original artwork on the walls showcased local artists and added a unique touch.

My Experience With the Room

An oversized kind bed awaits at the Charter Hotel in Seattle.

During my stay at the Charter Seattle Hotel, my room stood out for its majorly comfy bed and natural light.

Amenities

View of the writing desk and TV at the Charter Seattle.

The room was thoughtfully appointed with amenities that fit both my work and relaxation needs. A spacious writing desk near the window, high-speed Wi-Fi, and tons of charging ports are musts.

  • Desk: Sleek design, the chair was plush but straight-backed, perfect for laptopping
  • Wi-Fi: High-speed, complimentary
  • Charging ports: Plenty

Views

Travel writer Courtney Lux's dog looks dutifully out the hotel window at downtown Seattle.

The huge windows offered an amazing panorama of the Seattle skyline that my pup and I both loved. The view became the backdrop to my comfy time in Seattle, and I loved watching the sunrise and sunset paint the city every day.

  • Window views: Seattle skyline, picturesque
  • Sunrise and sunset: One word: breathtaking

Suites

Arrival gifts at the Charter Hotel Seattle: a plate of fruit and dried nuts, chocolates, a small bottle of champagne, a bouquet of flowers, and a handwritten note.

A word about the Charter’s suites: Each suite has a separate sitting area, a plush marble bathroom with double sinks, a separate shower, and an oversized tub. You can choose between epic water or city views, but all the suites are sweet.

Dining at The Charter

Travel writer Courtney Lux eats dinner with a view at the Fog Room in the Charter Hotel Seattle.

From the morning delights of the breakfast buffet to the exquisite flavors at Patagon and the rooftop terrace at The Fog Room, dining at The Charter Seattle is a treat.

  • Breakfast. When I travel, I always love starting my day with breakfast at a hotel, especially when I know I have a full because it saves so much time. The breakfast here was okay. Nothing too exciting, but it gets the job done.
  • The Fog Room. I cannot stress this enough: the views here are phenomenal! The Fog Room is a chic and stylish lounge with AMAZING views of the city and waterfront. The themed craft cocktails and small plates are better than most trendy hotel bars, and, again, the views! Other than my suite, The Fog Room was my favorite place to be in the hotel.
  • Patagon. At Patagon, the hotel’s upscale Argentine steakhouse, the flavors of South America come alive with a Pacific Northwest twist. The 12 Oz. New York steaks, prepared over a woodburning grill, are the star here, but the empanadas are also popular.

My stay at the hotel was incredibly convenient, thanks to its prime location. Have a look at all the top sites, food, drinks, etc., near The Charter-

Attractions near The Charter Seattle

I can’t stress enough how easy it is to get to Seattle’s top attractions and Downtown in general from The Charter. Here are 3 popular sites and two hidden gems within a 15 minute walk from the hotel:

  • Pike Place Market: Just a 5-minute walk away, grabbing a morning coffee at the original Starbucks was a breeze. Pike Place is the most interesting market of its kind I’ve ever been to; don’t underestimate how cool it is. The lines are awful, so being able to walk there from the hotel super early was a lifesaver. If you’re a food lover, Pike Place is a great place for a food tour.
  • Space Needle: A short, 12 minute walk will take you to this iconic Seattle landmark. This combo ticket gets you access to both the Space Needle and the Chihuly Garden next door.
  • Pier 66: Only a mile from the hotel, a 14 minute walk connects you to Seattle’s Pierr 66. If you’re taking a cruise, this is where you’ll likely embark or depart.
  • Freeway Park: A 10 minute walk from the hotel will take you to one of Downtown Seattle’s hidden gems, Jim Ellis Freeway Park. This place is basically an outdoor modern art museum, stretched over 5 miles and dropped over a busy freeway. An AMAZING spot for photos.
  • Amazon Go Store: Is this the future of shopping? An 11 minute walk away, the Amazon Go Store uses a technology that allows shoppers to scan their items and walk through the exit gate instead of waiting in line to pay. The store sells basic convenience store items, so it’s a great place to buy some snacks and get a cool experience.

Coffee, food and drinks

The number of phenomenal things to eat and drink near the Charter is insane, so I’ve put together a list of all the best options.

At the end of each list, I’ve included options in the Pike Place Market because it’s literally that close.

Note: You’ll likely face a line if you eat at the market, so make sure to factor that in so you don’t get hangry waiting.

Light Rail Station: Located a mere two blocks from the hotel, the Westlake Center stop is a gateway to the city. The Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) is a direct light rail journey from the Charter.

Hotel Amenities

During my stay at My Charter Seattle Hotel, I was super impressed with the amenities available. They’ve got everything covered, whether you’re looking to chill or get things done. The fitness center is acceptable for a 4-star hotel, with new equipment and various cardio machines. There is also a sauna and steam room free for guests.

Value for Money

When it comes to value, I can confidently say the hotel is a hot bang for your buck. Here’s a quick breakdown:

  • Rates: I found the rates competitive, especially for the amenities and location.
  • Dining: The hotel’s onsite dining is 10/10. Bites and drinks at the Fog Room were both tasty and reasonably priced. The breakfast includes hot and cold options and decent coffee, good enough for holding you over before a long day but nothing too exciting.
  • Location: The best value for your money comes in Charter’s location. Right in the heart of the city, the location saved me a substantial amount on transportation. The hotel is within walking distance of Pike Place Market, Pier 66, the Space Needle, and all the food you need. All of my tours had no problem finding the iconic Charter and picked me up directly from the front door.

For me, the hotel struck a fine balance between cost and convenience because you can walk to everything and don’t need a car.

The included amenities, massive room, and amazing location meant I maximized my budget without sacrificing.
